Network Engineer (Contract)
Location: Dublin Country: Ireland Rate: Euros 300 per day
Network EngineerThe successful candidate will be a key member of the ICT Operations Team and should be passionate about network architecture and technologies. They will be responsible for:
- Drive documenting and implementation of business-critical network and security technologies.
- Deliver continuous improvement by reviewing existing solutions across the network layer and implementing solutions to meet future trends in technologies.
- Work with teams on planning/design options to exploit new technologies.
Key Objectives- Lead and assist with the documenting and delivery of solutions and technologies which will be part of large-scale complex projects.
- Lead and assist with implementing a large nationwide network programme. Projects include 802.1X rollout, network hardware refresh, Firewall refresh, network segmentation, remote access solution.
- Responsibility for assisting in troubleshooting and resolving complex and technically challenging issues associated with the technology stack namely Network Security (Firewall, Remote Access Solutions, Load Balancing), LAN/WAN (Cisco/Juniper), WLAN(Aruba).
- Maximise the value of our technology investment, promote cost saving, where possible.
- Promote and encourage innovation throughout the team, to look for new answers and delivery of fresh approaches.
- Liaise with strategic vendors to keep abreast of their technical roadmaps.
- Validate and perform testing.
- Perform migration/production release.
- Provide documentation for the deliverables.
- Adhere to core network and security principles and best practices.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to team members.
Required Skills/Experiences- Bachelor's degree in a technical field eg Computer Science, Computer Engineering etc.
- 3+ years of experience in network architecture design and implementation on LAN,WAN and Data Centre network technologies.
- Experience with network security protocols and technologies (eg Firewalls, VPN, FortiGate, Checkpoint, 1X)
- Knowledge of routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP
- Troubleshooting LAN networks including Spanning Tree and LACP
- Knowledge of Data Centre network technologies including VXLAN and EVPN
- Experience with Juniper and Cisco routing and switching technologies.
- Experience documenting technical procedures for implementation during change windows.
- Implementing changes in a live environment under approved change control windows
- CCNP or equivalent qualification and experience
- Knowledge of Azure & O365
- Good written and verbal communication skills as well strong presentation skills
- Strong technical knowledge to build efficient technical solutions.
