Linux/Middleware Systems Administrator I (2nd shift)
Alpharetta, GA 30005
1 year + contract to perm

This is an opportunity for a 2nd shift position working 2pm - 10:00pm, Tuesday - Saturday or Sun - Thursday to be determined by Hiring Manager.

We are seeking experienced candidates who are true Linux Administrators with exposure to Middleware application support. The candidate must know how to troubleshoot the application stack and work with a virtual environment/ticketing system/monitoring systems etc. This person needs to have at least 2-5 years working in the field. We are a large enterprise and touch many different technologies. A candidate who has been working in a silo may not be able to pass the phone screen.

This position provides service support during events/incidents in the Operations Command Center (OCC) and assists in recovery and process actions on emergency bridges with appropriate actions to mitigate business/customer impact and provides critical incidents receive a post incident review, intended to identify systemic and root cause issues which require resolution once the immediate impact is closed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Work in the Operations Command Center monitoring Systems and Applications
- Provide technical expertise in the Incident and Problem Management process
- Responsible in fulfilling user requests, resolving service failures, fixing problems as well as carrying out routine operational tasks for our business organizations.
- Utilize the trouble ticket system to log all requests and activities
- Monitor the operational support systems to proactively identify service in performance, process and event monitoring.
- Assist Project Management team with Server builds

Experience -

2-5+ years' experience with demonstrated proficiency in multiple disciplines including:

Large scale processing operations over a number of international data centers and networks
Advanced knowledge of the Linux operating system to include root access and command line expertise
Experience configuring and administering Java Virtual Machine (JVM) Application Server environments.
Experience troubleshooting Java based applications, performing heap and thread dumps and basic memory use analysis
Experience with implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Virtualized enterprise server hosts in VMware
Capable of analysing/parsing custom formatted log files
Working experience using BASH/Perl, grep, AWK, SED, tcpdump are nice to have
Basic understanding of Switches, Routers, Firewalls, VPNs and load balancers
Experience using network monitoring and ticketing systems
