Position Summary

Achievement Centers for Children has an immediate opening for a Payroll & Accounting Specialist. This position will be responsible for bi-weekly payroll processing, maintenance of payroll records, and will assist with various accounting cycle functions.

Job Description:

  • Processes bi-weekly employee payroll including: review of wages computed, audit of electronic timekeeping records
  • Reviews and records bi-weekly payroll journal entries and monthly payroll accrual
  • Compiles payroll information and assists with maintenance of accurate time and attendance records
  • Resolves discrepancies with payroll and/or benefit information
  • Maintains confidential employee information
  • Coordinates efforts between payroll/finance, human resources, and other departments to ensure proper flow and maintenance of employee data
  • Maintains and follows Agency policies and procedures pertaining to payroll
  • Assist Accounting Manager and Controller with processing and depositing receipts, processing journal entries, and account reconciliations
  • Assist with maintaining and periodically reviewing proper account records and accounting files, statements, reports, and analyses
  • Provides assistance to the Agency with maintenance of accounts receivable, medical billing/claims follow up, and medical benefits verification


  • Associates Degree (Bachelor's Degree preferred) in Accounting
  • 3-5 years full cycle processing of payroll for company with 100-150 employees.
  • Working knowledge of payroll best practices and of federal and state regulations
  • General Ledger and Accounting experience required.
  • Proficient use of accounting software (Quickbooks preferred)
  • Extensive data entry and excel spreadsheet skills
  • Strong work ethic and team player
  • High degree of professionalism/confidentiality
  • Strong interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills
  • Decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
