The Engineering Tech will work on shifts to support production and maintenance with Controls issues and assist Engineers with capital projects and improvements. Assist maintenance to debug PLC programs to pinpoint issues. Resolve communication issues with the Server for PLCs, Recipe, CCM, etc. Assist maintenance with VFD, Servo Drive programming and replacements. Manage program backups in the Asset Center. Manage battery replacement for PLCs. Oversee equivalent substitutes for parts, including drives and sensors that are not available. Responsible for updating firmware in all Control Devices (PLCs, Drives, HMIs). Roll out safety interlocks. Responsible for quality improvements on production floor equipment. Assist Process Engineering with pilot trials. Manage battery replacement and program backup for all machines on the production floor. Assist Mechanical & Electrical Engineering on capital and improvement projects & product trials. Works closely with maintenance staff, and comes up with improvement ideals to reduce machine downtime.

Seeking an Engineering Tech in Controls/Maintenance with a major global high-volume manufacturer in the automotive industry. The location is in a city with a population of 50,000 conveniently located about 50 minutes from the State Capitol of Raleigh, NC. The plant is very up-to-date and efficient with state-of-the-art manufacturing machinery and equipment. Requirements:

An Associates or Bachelors degree in a technical or engineer type field with 3 or more years experience. Must be able to work on a 12-hour rotating shift. Prefer experience in Maintenance within a heavy manufacturing environment. Knowledge of PLCs, Drives, Servos, mechanical systems and fluid power. Experience in troubleshooting with basic computer skills. Prefer experience with specifying, installing, startup and operation of A/C inverter drives and D/C drives, including Allen-Bradley (PLC 5, Control Logix), Mitsubishi, Siemens and GE.
