Erodex is an independent family-owned precision engineering company with over 40 years of experience in the precision graphite tooling sector. The role is to be a founding member of a new precision manufacturing subsidiary, where Erodex will be establishing its own tool room for fixture care and modification in the Aerospace sector.
Specifically, the successful applicant will be part of a new team of four engineers, with responsibility helping to establish and operate the tool room on a daily basis. The successful applicant will be expected to perform daily preventative maintenance tasks on production equipment as well as the operation of manufacturing equipment in the other Erodex facility where we use Roders machines to produce ultra-precision graphite parts for the aerospace industry. An excellent track record in the manufacture and repair of complex work holding jigs and fixtures is essential, whether from the aerospace sector or another where tight tolerances are routinely demanded. The position may suit time served apprentices from a toolmaking background with at least 3-5 years experience of jig and fixture work.
In addition, the successful applicant will be expected to carry out visual inspection of machined parts as a part of the manufacturing process. You will also be trained to operate CNC inspection equipment, and will follow inspection protocols that will be maintained by the Quality Lead.
Key skills required for this position are as follows:

Manual Milling Machines Lathes
Surface Grinding Universal Grinding
Universal Grinding (internal and external Jig Boring
Geometric Dimensions & Tolerances

Equally important is an appreciation of the disciplines required for working to extremely tight tolerances, and an understanding that it is essential to follow protocols to ensure that no defective part ever leaves the facility.
