Personnel Security Lead (Inside IR35)

Contract Term: 6 Months

Contracting Authority: DEFRA

Location: Hybrid - 3 days per week in Weybridge, Surrey & the rest WFH.

SC/CTC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be eligible and willing to undergo these checks

As a Personnel Security Lead, your main responsibilities will be:

  • Responsible for quality assuring requests for security clearances for Defra group and its key suppliers.
  • To engage with United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) to raise requests, taking ownership of cases and supervising them through to completion.
  • To act as a primary point of contact to our customers, providing advice and guidance on the various services we offer, to ensure their personal security needs are met.
  • To strive for a high standard of work and customer service and a keen eye for detail is key.
  • The management of vetting portal, providing sound advice and guidance in line with industry standards.
  • Preparation of complex case work, ensuring all relevant documentation is available and process followed, for presentation to senior leaders for decisions.
  • Preparation of business cases, for example residency risk assessments, ensuring all relevant documentation is available and process followed, for presentation to senior leaders for decision.
  • Maintenance of various logs, to ensure cases, risk assessments etc. are appropriately documented and monitoring of logs to ensure successful completion in a timely manner.
  • Arrangement of BPSS requests advising the business of the process and monitoring through to completion.
  • Development and maintenance of products and briefs, including content management of the security intranet sites and SharePoint sites.
  • Delivery of personnel security briefings/presentations as required.

You'll have relevant experience in:

  • Recognised qualification in security management e.g., Certificate in Information Security Management Principals or equivalent experience and commitment to work towards qualification.
  • Delivering personnel security services within a large organisation.
  • Excellent organisational, communications and presentation skills.
  • Experience of engaging, advising and influencing at working levels of an organisation.
  • Ability to take across-government approach, considering the impact of your decisions in the broadest of settings.
  • Performing effectively to deadlines, maintaining focus in challenging situations and adapting to find solutions that meet the needs of stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder Management experience.
